Glass production and processing is an energy-intensive process. We therefore pay great attention to the efficient and effective use of fossil fuels in particular in active environmental protection. Auer Lighting relies on the environmentally friendly oxy-fuel technology, i.e. firing the glass melting tank with a natural gas-oxygen mixture. The result is a highly efficient combustion process that requires about 30 percent less energy than conventional regenerative tanks. In addition, hardly any nitrogen oxides are produced.
As part of its energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001, Auer Lighting makes a continuous contribution to the recording, analysis and saving of all energy sources used along the entire value chain. In addition, Auer Lighting is involved in the energy efficiency network of the glass industry to achieve the climate and energy policy goals of the Federal Republic of Germany.
With success: In the last 30 years, natural gas consumption has been reduced by 38%. Heating oil consumption has fallen from around 1,100,000 liters to almost 0 liters over the same period. Through energy optimization measures, electricity consumption has been more than halved over the past 15 years. The lower energy consumption also has a positive impact on CO2 emissions. CO2 emissions have been reduced by more than 61 % since 1994.
